• Completion late 2026

This completely intact, landmarked T.F. Schneider attached house in Capitol Hill was in need of a comprehensive refurbishment—but rather than erase the layers of history that had accumulated since 1880, our restoration enhances the historic character while making new contributions that speak in the language of the original.

Original character-defining elements showed some inspiration from popular contemporary designers at the time of the house’s construction - in particular early Stanford White and some of the more unusual detailing in his shingle style houses, and we used those projects as loose inspiration for new interventions here, including a woven lattice screen in a new dining room opening, multiple-panel doors, and iridescent tiles that pay homage to the great interiors of the Isaac Bell House and Kingscote.

Elsewhere, we looked to the house itself for inspiration, replicating original details where we made plan adjustments, and even rediscovering lost space planning elements such as the dressing area in the bedroom suite… bringing this great house back to life but still recognizable as itself.
